Mayor Ras Baraka recently visited Central HS with a team of male community leaders to encourage young men to maintain a positive life style. A few students shared a project they believe could help the homeless and assist victims of natural disasters, by providing emergency housing. May 5th marked the official launch of one of Newark’s newest developments, Express Newark. Express Newark is an incubator / shared space where artist from our community can collaborate and create.
Newark Express consists of many things but we will break down the main sections here. The Newark Print Shop, Paul Robeson Gallery, Shine Portrait Studio, and the Community Media Center. The four are spaces where artist may express through paint, photography, digital media, and exhibition. These spaces are open to the Newark community and are packed with resources and high technology not normally available to local artist with a limited income and resources, to create.
I’m So Newark is currently a community resident having access to this beautiful, needed space. We are currently looking for interns to create positive content in and around Newark NJ.
